Houghton awarded "Total Fluid Management" contract
Houghton Plc, supplier of industrial production lubricants and fluid management services, has been awarded a prestigious Total Fluid Management contract at Honda of the UK Manufacturing (HUM) Engine Plant, Swindon.
The contract started on 1st October 2007, and will run through to 2010.
HUM has been established for over twenty years and began making engines at Swindon in 1989. Car production began in 1992 and a second plant in 2001 increased the annual production from 150,000 to 250,000 units. Houghton's primary responsibility at HUM will be to support engine manufacture by providing high technology fluids and ensuring they are managed in accordance with best practice.
Close control and recycling will enhance product performance and life, with the resultant benefit of reduced waste generation. Drawing upon experience from other plants, Houghton will also work closely with HUM to increase overall value-in-use from the manufacturing process, targeting improvements to swarf processing systems and waste treatment facilities.
Lee Bowditch (Regional Business Manager, Houghton) comments, "We are honoured to have been selected by an organisation with such high standards towards personnel and quality. We are sure that Houghton’s global experience in fluid management will deliver HUM significant benefits and enable them to concentrate on their core activity - running a highly successful and expanding plant."
